🧱 My Growing LEGO Collection:

A Journey from Childhood to Now

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always loved playing with LEGO. I still remember my very first set—it came in a cute rectangular bucket filled with assorted colors and shapes. My mom brought it home from Hong Kong, and to me, it was magical. I’d spend hours building tiny houses and mini cars from that simple collection.

Back in the Philippines during the ’90s, LEGO wasn’t that popular. Most kids hadn’t even heard of it, and it wasn’t widely advertised. I used to lose pieces often, and my childhood friends thought it was such a weird toy. Looking back, I realize it was hard to create something big or detailed with the limited pieces I had—but it sparked my imagination, and that was all I needed.

🛍️ Reconnecting with LEGO in the U.S.

Fast forward to my life in the U.S., I started noticing LEGO everywhere—in malls, stores, and online. But one day, I came across a LEGO store, and everything changed. My childhood memories instantly came flooding back.

What caught my attention? A breathtaking Titanic ship built entirely from LEGO bricks! I was blown away. I had no idea LEGO sets had become so advanced and creative. There were Star Wars displays, Disney sets, and all sorts of cool builds. That’s when the thought hit me:

💭 “Why not start collecting the ones I really love?”

Interestingly, I’m not the only one in the family getting inspired. My niece also recently got into LEGO—especially the Titanic set. Influenced by her dad, who’s a huge LEGO fan and collector himself, she found joy in building sets together with him. She had patiently waited for the day her parents would take her to the LEGO store. And the moment she saw the Titanic display, her eyes lit up. It was love at first sight. Her parents saw how much she wanted it, and as a reward she truly deserved, they bought it for her.

Isn’t she adorable?! 🥰

Moments like that remind me that LEGO is not just a toy or a collectible—it’s a bridge to meaningful, shared memories. It brings families closer and creates unforgettable bonding time. Whether it’s helping young children develop cognitive skills and creativity or offering adults a therapeutic escape, LEGO is for everyone.

💸 Starting Small but Dreaming Big

I’ll admit, LEGO collecting can get expensive. But I realized I could treat myself once in a while—buying a set as a reward or birthday gift. Eventually, I began researching more about LEGO, exploring their official website, and even watching YouTubers building exclusive and retired sets.

Building LEGO sets again became something therapeutic for me. It helps relieve stress and keeps my hands and mind busy, especially during anxious moments. Following the instructions, piece by piece, gives me a calm and creative escape.

❤️ My Current LEGO Interests

Although I’m into cars and motorcycles, I find myself drawn to the Chinese Lunar New Year Collection. Each year, new sets are released and once retired, they become collector’s items. That’s when I understood: if you like it, grab it before it’s gone!

Some highlights of my collection journey:

• I love Sonic the Hedgehog, and although I planned to collect the sets, I gifted most of them to my godson. He’s now a fellow LEGO fan!

• My daughter is into Fortnite, and I found an exclusive LEGO set that I’m planning to build soon.

• I’m eyeing pieces from the Super Mario series and the peaceful Botanical Collection, too.

• I always choose sets that resonate with me personally—not just the trending ones.

🎓 Juggling School and LEGO Time

Due to my busy school schedule, I haven’t had the time to fully dive into building. But I still collect and store the sets I love.

My plan?

Once I graduate and finish my program, I’ll dedicate time to building and sharing the experience with you here—one build at a time.

📸 A Quick Look at My Current Collection (So Far!)

Here’s a glimpse of the LEGO sets I’ve collected so far. More to come!

Most of my LEGO sets came straight from LEGO itself.

A bunch of them I scored on Amazon for a sweet deal.

The rest were like treasure hunts — I had to hunt them down on OfferUp, Macy’s, Target, and eBay.

And below are all the awesome LEGO sets waiting for me to build after I finish my nursing program. I seriously cannot wait — it’s going to be SO much fun! 🎉
