GiYN proudly presents KAI BLACKWOOD from Hollywood, Ca. Very talented Singer, Guitarist, Songwriter, and not to mention, such an amazing person.
In 2010, Kai Blackwood wrote,directed, scored and edited the award-winning short film, “Cupcake“, which subsequently became a surprise hit on YouTube, garnering half a million views by word of mouth alone and a fiercely loyal following that have been clamoring for a feature film version. The success of “Cupcake” led to his feature directorial debut with the sci-fi/horror drama, “Grey Skies“. Also a multiple award-winner, “Grey Skies” was a micro-budget feature film that went on to secure worldwide DVD distribution and was also picked up by Netflix and the Chiller Network.
Since 2003, Kai has been the vocalist, guitarist and sole songwriter for the rock trio, Kai Blackwood & the Tokyo Death Squad. In addition to touring for many years, the band has released several EPs and 3 full-length albums, the most recent being 2020’s “Kaibutsu”. Blackwood directs/shoots/edits all of his music videos (which often feature his now 10 year old daughter, Kinnari Blackwood).
In 2010, Kai was the subject/star of the now-notorious documentary, “I Sold My Soul To Satan”.
Throughout all of my artistic endeavors, my focus has always been to create fascinating, provocative works that reach out and touch anyone who encounters them. In maintaining a powerfully clear vision of all projects in which I’m involved, I believe in creating unique, iconic, works that open eyes and minds and hearts… works that may ultimately blur the line between what is real and what lies just beyond the periphery.
